Optimus 1010 is a two component, high wet-out, long open time, aromatic MDI and multifunctional polyurea amine blend. The polymer system is "pure polyurea" and is not modified using urethane or other additives.

The polyurea structure is very durable with 100% solids and a set time of 6 to 8 minutes. This aromatic polyurea is extremely tough with excellent adhesive properties and very good chemical resistance. Optimus 1010 is applied via high pressure heated equipment such as the HV-20/35 or larger. It conforms to the requirements of the USDA for incidental food contact. It is formulated to be hard, non-brittle, flexible, fast set with impact and abrasion resistance. Gel Time is 65 seconds allowing approximately two to three minutes for self leveling or for broadcasting aggregate into the product.

Moisture Vapor Reduction: Optimus 1010 should be applied to concrete surfaces as part of a "systems approach". Since concrete will out-gas using the CMW8100 vapor barrier treatment for the concrete and the 7010 as the primer reduces out-gassing.
Priming: Optimus 1010 cross-links with the Madison prime Optimus 7010 and produces excellent results when used together as a system.
Note: The best spray application results are obtained when the ambient temperature is decreasing. Out-gassing will decrease as temperature falls. In applications where it is not possible to use the temperature to your advantage it is suggested that the Madison’s CMW be used in conjunction with Optimus 7010 or 6010R epoxy prior to the polyurea coating.
Preparation: Concrete must have a minimum 28 day cure prior to application. Remove any curing agent, form release materials, oils, wax, moisture or any material that may effect bonding. Clean and wash to remove contaminants and maintain pH 8.0-11.0.

Steel; Near white sand blast per SSPC-SP10/NACE 2. Welds, seams, edges, etc. grind/blast smooth and provide 2 mil profile. Immersion – review SSPC-SP1.
Application: Use only Gusmer or Graco heated high pressure equipment & impingement gun equipment, fluid pressure minimum of 2,000 psi. Minimum heat 160ºF. Surface temperature -20ºF to 120ºF. Apply at not less then 5ºF above dew point. Apply at specified mil thickness over primer as required for the application.
Spraying Optimus 1010 requires special equipment, user must be a professional applicator qualified in the use of high performance polyurea materials and specialty application equipment.

Concrete: Must cure for a minimum of 28 days. Clean, wash (maintain pH 8.0–11.0), and remove all oils, moisture, and curing agents. Mechanical profile must be at least 2 mils. Perform a Moisture Vapor Test before spraying. Fill all cracks and bug-holes with Optimus 820.
Steel: Sandblast to a Near White finish (SSPC-SP10/NACE 2) with a 2 mil anchor profile. Grind all welds and sharp edges smooth.
Vapor Barrier: Treat concrete with CMW8100 vapor barrier and prime with Optimus 7010 or 6010R epoxy to prevent out-gassing.
Pro-Tip: Spray while ambient temperatures are decreasing to naturally minimize concrete out-gassing.

The 1020 PolyUrea is a true polyurea and not a hybrid.

Moisture Vapor Reduction: 1020 should be applied to concrete surfaces as part of a "systems approach". Since concrete will out-gas causing pinholes, using the CMW 8100 vapor barrier treatment for the concrete and the Penprime 7010 as the primer, pinholes are reduced.
Priming: 1020 cross-links with the Madison primer PenPrime and produces excellent results when used together as a system.

1. Substrate Preparation
Concrete: Must cure for 28 days or more. Clean, wash (maintain pH 8.0–11.0), and remove all oils, moisture, and release agents. Mechanically profile to a minimum of 2–3 mils. Perform a Moisture Vapor Test and patch all cracks/bug-holes using Optimus 820.
Geotextile / Other Surfaces: Ensure surfaces are dry, dust-free, and structurally stable before coating.
2. Priming & Pinhole Prevention
System Approach: Apply CMW 8100 vapor barrier to concrete to stop out-gassing. Follow with Madison PenPrime 2–4 hours prior to spraying Optimus 1020.
Pro-Tip: Spray only after the primer is tack-free. For best results, coat when ambient temperatures are decreasing to eliminate pinhole risks.
3. Equipment & Material Setup
Agitation & Feed: Always thoroughly mix/agitate the Part B drum before use. Utilize feed pumps for both the A and B component drums. Pre-heat drums if required by cold weather.
Equipment: Requires professional high-pressure hydraulic proportioners (e.g., Graco Reactor or Arma Proportioner) with an impingement gun.
Parameters: Maintain a fluid pressure of 2,000 psi and a processing material temperature of 160°F.
4. Spray Application
Environment: Apply when substrate temperature is between -20°F and 200°F (spraying application window -20°F to 120°F) and at least 5°F above the dew point. Never apply to wet surfaces.
Execution: Spray at your specified mil thickness over the primer (maximum mils per coat is unlimited).
Texture Finish: To achieve the ideal stipple texture finish, overspray freshly applied Optimus 1020 back over itself.
5. Curing & Return-to-Service
Ultra-Fast Snap Cure: Gels in 8–20 seconds and becomes completely tack-free in just 30 seconds.
Access Window: The surface can support foot or equipment access within 1 to 1.5 hours after application.
Full Cure: Achieved in 24 to 48 hours at 70°F.
